Finding a husband wrap up

After that amazing kiss on the dancefloor we continued dancing, shared a few more kisses, and then eventually it was time to head back to the hotel. On the walk to the taxi Andrew reached out to hold my hand... I couldn't believe how it made me feel. I am far past the getting nervous at the idea of a guy holding my hand stage but having my hand in his felt magical and made me giddy. The rest of the night we tried to fall asleep but neither of us wanted to stop talking to the other. Eventually the alcohol and lack of sleep got to me and I passed out.

Sara (the birthday girl) had planned on going to a drive thru safari the next day on the way back up to Palm Bay. I had already told everyone that I was not going to go so that I could get back to my poor, sick baby (and rest!). However, my plans changed in the morning when I didn't want to say goodbye to Andrew just yet. It turns out that he and Tiffany had driven down from Palm Bay, where they both also live, and were planning on going through the safari as well. We made a plan to drive separately up to the exit for the safari and then pile in my car since it had 4 doors.

The idea of driving my car through a safari was a bit intense - what if all those commercials with the rhinos ramming the cars are true! Also, not everyone got a very good view because, if you have dogs you understand that the windows aren't always as clean as they could be :). Once we finished the animal portion - without a scratch on my car! - we decided to park and walk around the shop area a bit. I couldn't get enough of Andrew and even felt myself getting giddy and shy and wanted him to reach over and grab my hand. I felt like I was 12 again with a crush on the cute boy in class. We decided to get something to eat and shared our first funnel cake :).

Tummies satisfied we headed back to the car. I dropped Tiffany and Andrew off at her car so they could head back and instantly regretted not suggesting we switch passengers. Oh well. We made plans to see each other later that night since I hadn't planned to be back in Palm Bay for awhile. He took me to a local ice cream shop and we sat in his car talking and eating our ice cream.... until 2am. At which point his car battery had died and he had to call his friend to come jump start it!

The rest, as they say, is history!

Finding a husband pt 2

When I left off I was exhausted and did not feel like travelling or partying. Thankfully I decided to suck it up and go because I needed a weekend away and had already promised the birthday girl I would pick her up and drive us to Fort Lauderdale. My parents live in Palm Bay, where Sara lives (also where I was born and grew up) so all I needed to do was make the 2 hour drive to their house, drop off my poor sick pumpkin with her loving grandparents, pick up Sara, and then make the 2 1/2 hour drive to our hotel.

By the time I made it to my parent's house I was exhausted and promptly fell asleep knowing that Dasia was being taken care of. A few hours later Sara was ready to go so I drug myself out of bed, got somewhat presentable and headed out to pick her up.

The trip to Fort Lauderdale was fun and we did some much needed catching up. She told me about the other people coming (only one of which I knew) and also informed me that she thought I might be interested in one of the attendees named Andy at which point I assured her I was in no mood to meet anyone. We checked into the hotel, I made myself actually presentable and waited for the others to show up so we could head to dinner.

I decided it was the best time to call my mom to check in on Dasia just as two of the other guests arrived. I glanced up to acknowledge their entrance and then went back to my conversation. Once I was off the phone Sara introduced me to them: Tiffany and Andy Andrew. It seems there were going to be two Andrews there that night, one of which hates to be called Andy. This was not the guy she thought I would be interested in. She had, however, told me about Andrew as well and how funny and sweet he was but just that she didn't think he was my type.

After a few more people showed up we headed off to dinner. Dinner was... eventful. We had a very strange waiter that kissed me on the cheek a couple times, they forgot the birthday girl's meal and had to bring it out after everyone else was already served, we rode the mechanical bull after we ate... eventful

Once dinner was over we headed out to go explore the Hard Rock and get some drinks. This is when I really started paying attention to this funny, sweet, Andrew guy in the group. Tiffany and Sara caught on (I suppose I am not the most subtle person) and started laughing that she had bet on the wrong Andrew.

That's me in the middle and Andrew is the stud in the black polo :) (Andy is the tall guy in the back in case you need to know)

We ended up heading into one of the clubs and I slyly blatantly started dancing with Andrew "to keep all the other guys from trying to dance with me". We were having a great time. Four of us (Sara, Tiffany, Andrew, and I) separated from the group a little bit to head to a piano bar. This is where the flirting got serious and Tiffany at one point even told Andrew to make a move. He did not.

Back to the club we went to find the others. Distraction set in and we ended up just dancing some more. This is where he finally made his move. He kissed me, mid dance, in the middle of the packed dance floor. It was phenomenal. I literally got lost in the moment of spinning and kissing. I like to call it love at first kiss but it could have been the amount of alcohol I had consumed throughout the night. Andrew kindly pointed out where the DJ, door, and bar were and I was back on track.

Next up, I FINALLY wrap up the weekend :)

Finding myself a husband

... or how we met.

To tell the story of how Andrew and I met I first need to tell you about my one of my "babies". She is 70 lbs, with blonde hair, brown eyes, and extremely loving! She is, of course, my dog and her name is Dasia.

                                                                                             Isn't she adorable?

We went through a spell where she decided she would eat everything. She ate an entire bottle of fish oil pills, an entire bottle of flouride mouthwash I received from the dentist, and I can't even imagine what else she ate that I didn't find evidence of. One Wednesday night, shortly after this spell, she started getting very sick. I got home from work the next day and she had "been sick" all over my apartment. Disgusting. I babied her as much as I could, as any good mom would do, but she just seemed to be getting worse. Eventually she was barely able to stand up on her own. I somehow managed to get her down the three flights of stairs to the car and drove her to the emergency vet. After a long, tiring night, I was told she was just sick and extremely dehydrated. They gave her some fluids and sent me home with pills to help her feel better. We got home around 1:30 or 2:00 am and I slept  laid on the couch with her, feeding her ice cubes every few minutes so that she could get some fluids.

Luckily I was already scheduled to be off work on Friday because my friend, Sara, was having a birthday celebration in Fort Lauderdale. Unfortunately, going to Fort Lauderdale was the last thing I wanted to do...

Up next, I will really get to the part where I meet my future husband.

Welcome!

Welcome to the May 2013 Wedding blog!

I invite you to follow along as I plan what I assume will be one of the happiest days of my life J

We are about 8.5 months out from our May 18th wedding now so I figured it would be a good time to get started on blogging if I was going to tackle it at all. My inspiration to start a blog came from a recent post I saw on another blog I follow daily. The writer described how she is so thankful that she shared each moment of the journey in such a way that she will always be able to look back and reminisce of the great times (albeit sometimes stressful) she had planning their wedding. I would love to be able to do the same.

My main goal is to DIY as much as possible and hopefully I can share those experiences and inspire others to tackle some projects! Follow along, share your stories, get inspired!
